American Kestrel - "Turnpike" Turnpike came from the Hutchinson Zoo. He was confiscated by Wildlife & Parks from some individuals that were trying to keep him as a pet. He is severely imprinted and lets you know it when it is dinner time. He will not and I repeat will not stop chattering until he gets his mouse! Kestrels are the smallest of the falcon family, and generally you can see them along the road perched on the electric wires waiting for a mouse or small bird to come by. They also can hover like a Helicopter, and then dive down to catch their prey! |
