Love is in the Air! Valentines Day has come and gone, but our Beloved Great Horned Owl "Templeton" has had several females show up at night and they have a "Hoot" party all night long. Great Horned Owls are one of the earliest birds to lay eggs and have young in Kansas. We have been traveling to western Kansas the last several weeks providing educational programs for Several County Soil Conservation Districts. We have also taken several injured birds this year. We were able to release 3 Great Horned Owls, 1 Red-tailed Hawk, and a Screech Owl. One of the Great Horns was brought in by a hunter while out rabbit hunting. This is great news that our message of respecting raptors in the wild is being heard. We are gearing up for warm weather and are getting ready to start our spring volunteer projects. This will include planting new trees, mulching existing ones, re-roping the bird perches, staining the pens and several other outdoor landscaping projects.
