Programs, Tours & Rehab Success! 2005 is starting with a busy schedule. We have booked the Wichita River Festival in May. We are going to be doing our Owl Story Time and take Miles our Barn Owl, Templeton our Great Horned Owl, and Lucy Our Screech Owl. In April we are doing the Grand Opening of Cow Town with Talon our Golden Eagle. We have booked 18 Library Programs in the Wichita and surrounding area with our "Owls" Natures Mystery". story time. We have booked Tours at Eagle Valley with several Home schools, day care centers, Haysville Activity Center, Several Civic organizations, local middle and grade schools and Scout Groups. We have helped two Eagle Scouts earn their badges with projects at Eagle Valley. We will be doing Dare Progam Awards in Eldorado and Augusta in April and June. We have started plans for out nature trail down to the creek where the beaver dams are. We have released the last 6 birds we have taken in! We currently have 2 new patients. A male Barred Owl, and a Coopers Hawk. On the 19th & 20th of March Eagle Valley is hosting the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council 1AB Symposium at the Sedgwick County Extension Office. It is a course that helps rehabbers learn the basics in all areas of intial care of Kansas Native Wildlife. The course filled up with the maximum of 42 participants! With the warm weather spring cleaning, landscaping and getting Eagle Valley looking good for 2005 is at the top of our list. WaSu our Bald Eagle is flying better than ever in his new flight Pen. Our new program Bird "Turnpike" an American Kestrel, did his first program at Independent School in Wichita and was a big hit with the Kids. They school raised over $600 for us.
